Public Art Intervention in the Czech Republic

HAVANA TIMES — During my time in Prague for a course, one of my class assignments was to hold a public art intervention so that we could then edit a video.

With Jurgis Pranas Didziulis, the Lithuanian-Colombian singer and leader of the ska and funk band “InCulto”, the party began on Charles Bridge with Cuban musicians, members of the band “La armada” composed of: Omar Sayut Taquechel, Aristey Guibert Tejeda, and Ricardo Casamayor Pujals. Film producers Yaima Pardo La Red and Yenier Martínez Carrillo were also present.

For over two hours, our Cuban rhythm touched people on a busy promenade and infected everyone who was there who joined in the fun.

We finished up on the Moldova Riverbank where we made an offering to Cuba´s patron saint La Caridad del Cobre (Yalorde) at this mystic time. While we were asking for good things in our lives and for the world, a rainbow appeared that cut through Prague’s sky. It was an unforgettable day.

Nonardo Perea: I see myself as an observant person and I like to write with sincerity what I think and live first hand. I’m shy and of few words; thus it’s difficult for me to engage in conversation. For that reason, my best tool for communicating is writing. I live in Marianao, Havana and am 40 years old.
