Abel Calderon and Trio

HAVANA TIMES, January 9 – On Sunday, January 10, jazz artist Abel Calderón and his trio will play at the La Zorra y el Cuervo (No. 155 Calle 23, in the Vedado district), from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Abel, a young pianist and composer, was the winner of the 2001 JoJazz competition.  His group is made up of young musicians who are also winners of previous JoJazz editions. They interpret pieces by Abel himself and versions of Cuban and foreign works, performing Latin Jazz with marked influences of jazz pianist Thelonious Monk and of soul.
