Specialists with the Centre for Environmental Studies and Services of the central province of Villa Clara made an assessment of the situation of the mangroves in the area of Cayo Santa María, one of the tourist destinations on Cuba’s northern coast, Luis Reyes Suz, environment expert of that institution, announced. Those forest formations reduce the impact of hurricanes and avoid soil salinity, in addition to being home to a varied population of fish and crustaceans.

The trial begun by Ana Margarita Martínez, ex wife of a Cuban spy, who is demanding 27 million dollars from the airlines that carry out charter flights to Cuba, will remain in a federal court due to the U.S. government’s interest in the case, Judge Federico A. Marabana 2010 Photos

The 24th edition of the international marathon Marabana 2010 took place this past Sunday in Havana with the participation of 2,500 runners from 74 countries.
