Kissing Day, Havana, Cuba – Photo of the Day

Irina Echarry from Cuba took our photo of the day: “Kissing day” in Havana, Cuba.

The highs will be between 30 & 32°C (86 & 90 F), and the lows at 22/23°C (72 & 73 F). The sea surface temperature will be 27°C (81 F).

The protagonist of this story recently went out to explore stores in her neighborhood in search of batteries for her TV remote control.

Abel Lescay was arrested at home –from where he was removed naked– on July 12th and was tortured and threatened with death for six days.

The photographs in the El Toque contest had to be unedited, original works, and linked to aging, caring and elderly rights in Cuba.

This week we have drawn on the disappeared Young Filmmakers Showing of Cuban cinema. This event had set an important precedent.

The contrast between indolence, abandonment, snobbery, and the nostalgia of the retro. That and more we try to show in these 57 pictures.

As soon as they get off the plane they begin to blurt our phrases like “you have no idea what you have here,” “life out there is very hard…”
