Currently, two Cuban painters who now reside in France are exhibiting their work here in Havana at the Victor Hugo Cultural Center through February 15. The exhibit titled “Cimarrones en Montmartre” (Runaway Slaves in Montmartre), is by painters Francisco Rivero and Lorenzo Padilla.

Cuban Children’s Theatre Co. Reaches 20

The Cuban La Colmenita Children’s Theatre Company will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its foundation starting next February 14 by climbing to Turquino Peak (the island’s highest), performances in the Ciénaga de Zapata lowlands and the premier of Elpidio Valdés and Los Van Van, announced its director, Carlos Alberto Cremata. La Colmenita is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Los Van Van drew 4,000 in Miami

The Cuban Los Van Van popular salsa music band brought together some 4,000 persons (near 90% capacity) at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, the United States, where they gave their second concert of the preamble of their upcoming U.S. tour. Calls were made by the band leaders to build bridges between the Cuban community in exile and the residents on the island.

Cuba’s Van Van Salsa Tonight in Miami

Cuba’s most famous salsa band Los Van Van perform in concert tonight at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. In statements to a local Miami radio station the band’s director Juan Formell said the group is willing to share the stage with Cuban musicians living off the island.
