Defaults Increase on Bank and Micro-credit Loans in Nicaragua

The crisis in the country has already caused some 215,000 people to lose their jobs according to a study from Funides, the Nicaraguan Foundation for Economic and Social Development. This in turn has increased the level of debt delinquency in the local financial system, with ever more people – up to 45% – unable to make payments.

Today the permanent commission of the OAS meets to discuss the situation in Nicaragua and proposals for action by the organization. OAS Meets Tuesday to Discuss another Resolution on Nicaragua

The Organization of American States will meet this Tuesday, July 31st to discuss a new resolution regarding the situation in Nicaragua including the creation a follow-up group on the national crisis. If the necessary support for passage is obtained, it will be submitted to a vote the next day – Wednesday, August 1.
