Austria’s Hermann Nitsch at Havana Bienal

HAVANA TIMES — Austrian Hermann Nitsch will present his work “135 Aktion” on May 14 in the Cuban capital during the 11th Bienal de La Habana arts festival, according to an announcement made yesterday at a press conference hosted by the artist at the Superior Institute of Art.

The multi-talented creator (who is an artist, writer, composer and actor) was optimistic about the success of his “action,” as he invited those present to experience his art and perceive his works with all of their senses.

“I don’t care anything about politics, I only deal with social problems indirectly,” said the artist, one of the leaders of the controversial Viennese Actionism movement.

Nitsch has been criticized and attacked for defying the moral and ethical conventions of Western society.
