HAVANA TIMES – ??The largest mass organization in Cuba , the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), began their eighth congress at the Havana Convention on Thursday.

Delegates from around the country are discussing changes in the operation of the organization taking into account the island ‘s socio-economic changes , while maintaining their slogan “fight social indiscipline and lawlessness.”

The neighborhood organization, founded in 1961 on the initiative of former President Fidel Castro in response to acts of terrorism from the United States, is now described by many Cubans as stagnant , retrograde , and that violates the privacy and rights of citizens.
