Cuban Actress Daisy Granados to Perform in Miami

HAVANA TIMES — Actress Daisy Granados, one of the iconic faces of Cuban cinema, is in Miami to debut her one-person show, “Leyenda,” on October 12 at the club “Hoy Como Ayer,” reported the Café Fuerte website.

Granados, 69, will star as “La Jaba,” the lover of the mythical Havana pimp Alberto Yarini. The performance is recreated from the writings of Raquel Carrio in a show directed by Lilliam Vega, according to information from the Miami company F & F Media.

The actress has starred in more than 25 films and received the National Film Award in 2007.

Her name is associated with great moments of cinema on the island, ones such as Memorias del subdesarrollo (Memories of Underdevelopment), by Tomas Gutierrez Alea; Retrato de Teresa (Portrait of Teresa) by Pastor Vega; “Cecilia,” by Humberto Solas; and “Plaff” by Juan Carlos Tabio.
