It’s been raining a lot recently and in addition to the benefits that rain brings us, it also brings unrelated-to-nature collateral damage to the City of Havana. Let me explain…

I asked myself if these people who seem to have another reality where they can withdraw themselves and find shelter will soon become regular pedestrians on Havana’s streets again, when the “confusion” comes to hit us all.

These are the remnants of a familiar city which remain imprinted on our memory. Reality follows us in our subconscious when we don’t see these things everyday; a corner, an arch or a column. (7 photos)

Some of us who live in Cuba have the strong feeling that our current eating habits aren’t exactly healthy. Some know this, others simply don’t even worry about it. The situation could become much worse as a result of future agreements with the United States or any other country.

On March 8, Havana’s Parque del Cristo (“Christ Park”) – whose name, apparently, is owed to the church that bounds with it, located between Bernaza and Villegas streets, Old Havana – was finally “liberated”. (11 photos)

There it sat, its full attention on the object of its desire – some filets, pork ribs and a bit of messy leftovers – focused on the smells and the movements of the vendor. Rigid, passively but firmly poised, it looked as though essaying a telepathic connection…

The passengers, most of them adults, were looking out the bus windows at the primary school students in uniforms making their way to the roundabout leading to the Camilo Cienfuegos neighborhood (more popularly known as Habana del Este), carrying flowers to be laid before the bust of Jose Marti there.

The 10th Los Puentes Illustration Exhibition closed this past November 19This biennale gathers visual artists who wish to exhibit works related to published literary pieces and/or that could be used to illustrate these. (16 photos)

Well, folks, on May 22, this bulletin, named Tutututu, was launched by the project at the El Pilar, Atares community center located in Havana’s neighborhood of Cerro with some 50 people attending.

Every day, as 5 pm draws near, Havana’s well-known Parque Central sees a crowd of people standing in what many working people (desirous of getting home quickly after leaving work) refer to as the “line of conscience.”
