Cuba’s Carlos Acosta Wins Prize at Home

Cuban dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta was awarded the 2011 National Dance Prize, Iván Tenorio, president of the jury, announced. Acosta, born in 1973, is a guest artist of the Royal Ballet of London; the American Ballet Theatre, of New York; and the Kirov Ballet, of Saint Petersburg.

Historic Center Host International Dance Event

The Cuban capital’s historic center will receive on April 13 dance professionals from 13 countries, who will participate in the 16th International Meeting of Dance in Urban Countries, reported IPS. The event, organized by Cuba’s Retazos Company, the Office of the City Historian and this city’s Theatre Center, will be take place in parks and squares in Old Havana.
