Cuba/Honduras to Normalize Relations

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez announced today that his country will fully normalize diplomatic ties with Venezuela and Cuba, reported EFE. Caracas and Havana withdrew their ambassadors from Honduras after the coup of 2009 that ousted President Manuel Zelaya.

The El Salvadoran governing FMLN candidate, Salvador Sanchez, has apparently won a razor thin victory over rightwing ARENA’s Norman Quijano with 99.9% of the 10,445 polling places reporting. The preliminary results show Sanchez with 50.11%.

Cuba Tops 11,000 Doctors in Brazil

A new contingent of 4,000 Cuban doctors is currently arriving in Brazil adding to the 7,400 already working in the “More Doctors” program of President Dilma Rousseff. Back in January the Brazilian ambassador in Havana had announced his country’s intention to raise the number of Cuban doctors in the program to 11,000.
