It’s becoming harder and harder to find an artistic product that moves you. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a movie, a series, even a song or a book, nearly everything we consume is just like a meal.

Cuba’s New Wealthy Class

The existence of social classes is an undeniable facet of human societies. Cuba, blessed by the “Hammer and Sickle”, suppressed these differences between its citizens, as one of its most-talked-about achievements.

Violence as education

It’s very common for parents in Cuba to order the following when a child fights with another for the first time and loses: “You have to learn to defend yourself! If he hit you, you go and hit him, if he’s bigger than you, hit him with something else.”

Cuba Was Never Different

Cuba exported a sugar-coated image of its youth for many years. Young people who lived as equals (in poverty), brimming with maturity, political convictions, willingness and other upstanding values. Very different to those consumer teenagers, Capitalism’s children, whose only goal was to have something and flaunt it.

The Glass Castle

“The Glass Castle” left me thinking for a few days. It made me remember the joy of dreaming, those childhood dreams which still aren’t tainted by the official standards of success. Pure dreams which don’t seek to impress or please anyone.

What’s Left for the Losers?

With the first LCD (Cuban DotA League) kicking off in early September, it is finally coming to an end after a long period of time and interruptions. On Saturday December 23rd, teams “Pirates Gaming” and “Big Monkeys” will have a face-off in the final stage of the competition.

The Atrophy of Collectivization

Ever since its triumph the Cuban Revolution has proved to be a sound example of unity. Cuba has never had citizens but a multitude throbbing with revolutionary spirit. Those individuals who do not manage to fit into this “everyone” are left without room and are rejected.
