Cuba Lands First Two Gold Medals

Cuba obtained its first two gold medals at the London Olympics on Friday. It also has two silver medals and one bronze, to be currently in 14th place on the medal standings. Idalis Ortiz won the championship of the women’s 78 kg judo event defeating Sugimoto of Japan. Leuris Popo won the 25 meter rapid fire pistol event.

Remains of Cuban Diplomat Identified in Argentina

The Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team identified the remains of Crescencio Galañena Hernandez, one of the two Cuban diplomats who was kidnapped and “disappeared” in Buenos Aires in 1976 by the military dictatorship, reported that country’s newspaper Pagina 12.
